Who Would Have Known.....

.....that a water table,
a water hose and
an August summer day
could be so much fun!

Perferred Seating!

The medicine ball was not getting any use out of me or Aaron so Cannon took it upon himself to make it a seat!  Very creative I must say for a 17 month-old!

Go Away Ear Infections!!

Trust me when I say that I was prepared to have a sick baby more often since he was in daycare; however, nobody can prepare you for just how often those sick episodes come along.  Cannon had several reoccurring ear infections his first year of life but enough is enough.  I finally broke down and took him to both an ENT doctor as well as an allergist.  Turns out, Cannon does have some seasonal allergies and the multiple ear infections could keep coming if we don't put tubes in his ears to help the drainage.

Well, the day came for surgery.  I was a nervous wreak plus we had to bring Caroline to the surgery center since our appointment was at 7:00am.  We all arrived and Cannon was a wonderful patient.  He got his vitals taken than got to walk around a little before they took him back.  Aaron, Caroline and I were in the waiting room not more than thirty minutes when they called us all back to go be with Cannon in recovery.  This is when I lost it!  To walk in and see your baby boy with an oxygen mask on and sound asleep from all the anesthesia broke my heart into tiny pieces.  I stood next to his bed with his hand in mine.  The doctor came in to talk to us as well as the nurse, all while Cannon was out.  The nurse assured me he would awake very soon and he might cry for a moment or might not.  About that time, Cannon's eyes opened.  He looked around and immediately started to cry.  I brought his best friend Orie with us and of course we didn't leave home without his paci!  Between those two comforting things and the secure feeling of his mommas arms wrapped tight around him, Cannon only was unhappy momentarily.  The recovery room we were in was for kids so they had a rocking chair in there and it helped out so much.  I don't think I stopped holding Cannon in my arms for what felt like hours.  I didn't want my precious little boy to be scared.

We were back in the car and headed home before 9:00am.  Since I had taken the day off to be with Cannon, that is just what I did.  We stopped and dropped Caroline off at daycare so Cannon could get lots of love and attention from his momma!  It was a great rest of the day!

Multiple ear infections results in tubes.

Tubes result in less or no more ear infections.

Final result.....a happier little boy named Cannon!

Pillows Needed?

I am still obsessed with watching Cannon sleep.  If your a follower of this blog you will know that I have posted several times how much I love to go to Cannon's crib and look at him sleeping.  Yes, I'm talking several times (about 10) a night before I go to bed.  Of course now this obsession includes Caroline.

This is how I found both of them sleeping this week.  I have a feeling that Cannon now wants to sleep on pillows.  As for Caroline, well, I'm still not sure because she is way to young for a pillow in her crib.  Maybe she just wanted to be like her big brother!

Bedtime Stories

The bedtime routine at our house is fast becoming an event that involves the entire family!  Once baths are complete, bottle feed to Caroline, dinner feed to Cannon and a couple of bits of dinner for mommy & daddy, we all head down the hall to say night-night!

Daddy is getting really good at being the storyteller of books to Cannon.   And since Caroline is wanting to see more of the world around her, we just let her lie along side of her big brother and listen to the bedtime stories too.   Yay....this thing with two kids is getting a "little" easier.

RIP Bubbles....#1

I feel HORRIBLE!  I killed my son's first pet!  There are not a lot of words to be said except, the fish I bought Cannon as his first pet has died.  I take full blame; however, there is a happy ending to this story.

I told Cannon a little story about his fish:
One day a very special fish named Bubbles went from living in a pet store with all his friends to living with a very special little boy named Cannon.  Bubbles loved his new home in Cannon's room but would sometimes go to sleep and dream about all his friends he missed back in the pet store.  One night while Cannon was sleeping, Bubbles went to the bathroom and jumped into the toilet so he could swim back to the pet store.  When Cannon awoke to see Bubbles was gone, his momma drove him to the pet store to find Bubbles.  They looked at all the fish in the store and finally found Bubbles swimming in the fish tank with all his friends but when Bubbles saw Cannon looking at him through the glass, Bubbles told Cannon that his friends understand that Bubbles has a new home and must leave them for good.  Momma drove Bubbles and Cannon back home where Bubbles now lives forever.  The End!

Did You Get the Announcement?

Cannon got married!  Ha!

As with any child, there are lots of options when it comes to toys.  There are toys that make noise, there are toys that light up and there are toys that are just that, toys.  When Aaron and I got married, we were given what you could say was a toy.  It was this cute singing teddy bear bride.  For the longest time, our sweet bear bride sat high atop the bookshelf.  Not so much out of sight, just out of reach where we wouldn't have anyone get the urge to make it sing.  But when Cannon was born I brought her down off the shelf and let it become his.  Now Cannon loves to push the button over and over and over again while his bear sings "Going to the Chapel" and he can dance with his bride.

This has by far become his FAVORITE new toy!

I can't wait to pull these pictures out one day for his REAL bride!

There It Is!

Our little book worm can't keep his hands off his animal picture books.  Cannon loves to get a book, crawl up on our laps or somewhere close so we can see him point out the animals.  Then its basically a game of I Spy.  This particular book is his favorite right now.  Thank you Auntie M for another package of love you sent him from Texas!!

Sharing a Moment

It seemed to take a while before Cannon gave his little sister any attention.  I think he started recognizing her more when she all the sudden was in "his" bouncy or playing with "his" toys.  These moments will continue to melt my heart as these two continue on becoming best friends.........I hope!

Your 3 Months Old!

Time is FLYING by since Caroline has been born.  It seems as though she was never a little delicate newborn because this sweet thang has spunk, attitude, fat cheeks and the biggest smile we have ever seen!

She is 3 months old and looks (and weighs) like she is almost a year old.  The 3 month dresses she had been wearing are now shirts to go with cute skirts.  We skipped an entire size in diapers and went straight from a size 1 to a size 3.  She eats like she is training for a marathon.  She still LOVES to start stirring at 4:00am on the dot and gives out a little cry if I don't hear her by 4:01 but her paci is still the love of her life.....and ours when it gives us extra hours to sleep!

Caroline is still the baby girl we just knew as "our baby" for nine months.  So to say we are still a little shell shocked that she has completed our family where we didn't even realize there was a void is an understatement!  She brightens our world and her big brother Cannon loves her to pieces!  His little "sissy" is fast becoming his new best friend!
