Carrots & Owls

First it was green peas and tonight it was carrots.  Caroline seemed to enjoy the sweetness a little more but I'm sure she is like most babies and it will just take some time to adjust to eating foods.  Not sure if I can quite see the end of the tunnel yet with the ending of bottles but I know we are almost halfway there.  My next big hurdle with Caroline is to try "adult" food a lot sooner than I did with Cannon.  At this time there aren't a lot of cooked meals in our house so until I get on a more even schedule with work, kids, being a wife, house keeper, etc.... cooked meals will be a special treat when I do have the energy to make them.  Don't worry Aaron, you won't have to eat Honey Nut Cheerios forever.  Yes, we have cereal for dinner A LOT around our house these days.  With a pantry full of recipes, I'm hoping to get back to using them soon.

She doesn't look happy but I promise the faces were not as bad as they were with peas.

I bought Caroline this owl when we were on vacation last month and she loves it. Those carrots must have really filled up her belly!  She sleep like an angel.

Seriously?

Worried Sick!

Today Aaron and I did duties of taking care of a very sick little boy.  Cannon has always had horrible colds and respitory problems since he was a baby.  We knew these issues would be a part of our lives since he was a daycare baby but I can't say that you are ever prepared to see your child have 104.5 fever.  This is our second time battling such a high fever and I was much more calm this time when the thermometer lite up with such a high number.  But I don't care if it's the first or fiftith time, my heart is still worried sick and broken seeing my boy lie helpless while fighting through this illness.

Feel better Cannon!

Caroline - 5 Months

Today we went to church and thanked God for our sweet, precious, happy, chunky, strong-willed, drama at times, healthy baby girl.  Every month we celebrate her birth, it makes me that much more happy that we are further away from those days when I was pregnant and worried so much about this precious babies heart.  She is proving to be a strong and "ahead of schedule" baby.  Her big brother adores her and it's safe to say the same about him.  She gives the biggest smile and giggle when he is around.

Since Caroline was about 3 months old I have been giving her cereal.  The baby wants to eat non-stop!  So with that said I thought it was a good time to start foods a little sooner than I did with Cannon.  It's hard for me to go to that next level with my kids for some reason.  I don't know why, it's not like they are crying and screaming all the time trying to tell me that they don't like the choices I am making as a mother.  It just is one of those things that I don't feel comfortable with and need a little more reassurance from Aaron....Cannon....and Caroline!  So at the end of the day on the day Caroline turned 5 months, we feed her green peas for dinner.  I think if she knew how to talk she would have maybe cursed me out but instead she made these horrible faces that told us indeed that she DOESN'T like green peas and that she WASN'T happy with my choice of food for her first taste testing.

Before she realized what was about to happen.

Not the happy face we are use to seeing on Caroline!

Back to sweet & happy Caroline after her night time bottle!

We love you Caroline!  Happy 5 months!

A New Beginning

WOW!  That is the first word that comes to mind when I think about all the things we have experienced with Cannon since he was born.  I have said it a thousand times since he came into this world, "you just don't know what you don't know" and that has been so true being first time parents with Cannon.

Knowing we were going to be working parents, we couldn't escape that word.  You know the word I'm talking about don't you?  Yes, that word....daycare.  Living in a smaller town, there are not that many choices for daycare but I choose the one I felt was best for Cannon.  He was in the grasshopper baby room with Ms. Charlene & Ms. Anna.  They loved my little boy, everyday and without hesitation.  I knew they were taking care of him everyday just like he was their own.  Once Cannon turned one, he moved up to the caterpillar room.  This is where Ms. Tamika and Ms. Lilliam taught him songs, helped him learn to eat with utensils and best of all, guided him into being a wonderful toddler.  Before Cannon left daycare, he was a bumblebee for all of a week.  This is the room for the older toddlers before moving to the two year old class.  Ms. Lilliam had actually moved over to this room as well so Cannon had a familiar teacher for the day.  A new teacher had started in that room just the week before, Ms. Amanda.  She was my hero for a week and it broke my heart the day I told her Cannon wasn't coming back.  I encouraged her to keep loving the kids like she had loved mine for the week he was with her.  After all, isn't that all we really want people to do to our children?  Love them!

So we have come to a wonderful new beginning for Cannon.  PRE-SCHOOL!!!!!

Aaron and I woke up so excited to take our little boy to his first day of school.  We made it a family event and towed Caroline along as well.  We got to school, which is really the church, and guess what.....Cannon's class is the same as the class he goes into for church!  How awesome was that for him?  He walked in and already was familiar with his surroundings.  That took a lot of stress off of me but if you know me, you know I still cried my eyes out when I had to leave him.  His teacher, Ms. Colleen seems wonderful and I can't wait to get the daily report sheets to see just how great my little boy loves his new beginning!

This is the pacifier dog that Cannon started daycare with on May 18th, 2009.  As you can see, the pacifier was cut off a while back to wean him off of it while away from home.  It worked!

This is the poster Cannon's class made for him on the last day of attending daycare.  They were so good to him and he has made some special friends that will be in his life for a long time.

First day of pre-school!

Proud Momma!

Proud Daddy!

His report came back GREAT!

Sunday Fun

Today I got to see just how much Cannon adores his baby sister.  Caroline was playing and tending to herself on her play mat when Cannon went over and got right next to her.  They both thought this was so funny and gave the cutest laugh!

I can't wait to see the special relationship between them strengthen as brother and sister.  I know from having a big brother myself, there will be disagreements and probably times when they won't want to claim that they really are brother and sister.  As parents we can only hope and pray that they grow up best friends and one day realize just how great it really is to be related!

The Start of Our Days

Here is how Aaron and I get to start our days!  Caroline is proving to be just like her big brother was at this age.....happy!  How did we get so lucky to have such beautiful and happy children?  Thank you God!

The BEST Family First Yet!

For some reason being first time parents was a little hard getting use to for Aaron and I.  We didn't allow ourselves to continue doing the same things we were accustom to doing like going out to dinner, visiting with friends and little trips here and there.  How could we with a baby?  Then when Cannon was only five months old we got the shock of our lives that I was pregnant and had been for a month.  All I did in the months I was pregnant was try to have enough energy to get to the next day and to the next month and eventually to the end of the pregnancy. Our sweet Caroline was born and we were determined to start being more active.  Go places with the kids and not be home bodies like we were last summer with Cannon.

So to make a long story short, our lives have been in a whirlwind of change for the past year and half and today, we did the best thing yet as a family.  We went to church!  Oh how I have longed for this day and oh how perfect of a day it was!!

Cannon had a death grip on my neck and didn't want to let go when we took him into the toddler room, which they call the Movers & Shakers.  How cute!  There were actually three other kids there that are in his class at daycare so he wasn't with total strangers the entire hour.  I sat him at the table with a toy that contained animals....his favorite!  Once he was engrossed with the pigs, cows and sheeps, I quietly exited the room.  When we arrived back to get him after the service, he didn't want to leave.  What?  Our shy, slow to warm up, blue eyed boy was having fun and enjoying his new surroundings.  Yes he was and I was so proud of how much fun he had in his class.

Caroline did great too.  She went with us in the sanctuary.  I kept her in her stroller and rocked it the entire time.  After Father Owens preached, I took her out to enjoy the closing songs.  She did nothing but have this huge smile on her face and look around.  I think she was moved by the Spirit!  :)

It's been way too long for this first to have started with our family but God doesn't keep records of wrongs or those times we wanted to go to church and didn't.  I know He is proud of us and I know He will continue to work in our lives to help us continue on the new road of life we want to be on.....even with two kids under the age of two!

Just A Little Party!

On our way back from vacation, we made a pitstop and spent the night and next day at Kevin & Pamela's.

It wasn't just a rest stop for us on our journey back home but instead a sweet PINK party for a sweet one year old girl named Mackenzie!  We can't believe she is already one?

Cannon loves playing with his cousins and getting to help celebrate birthdays are extra exciting!

Happy 1st Birthday Mackenzie!

2010 Wheat Vacation

Every other year the Wheat gang packs up and heads out on vacation.  We come from South Carolina, Aaron's brother and family come from Florida and Aaron's mom comes from Maryland.  This year's vacation we opted to all try out the lower Florida area and rest for a week in West Palm Beach.

And here is how this year's vacation went down......

The six hour drive down had several stops, including Cannon's first McDonald's Happy Meal.  He didn't care to much for the burger and fries but Batman was his new best friend for the rest of the drive!

Sweet Caroline was old enough to enjoy the sunshine at the beach.....

.....and oh how cute are baby rolls in a ruffled one-piece!

Fun was had in all the pillows on the bed.....

......and looking out the window at all the fun that lied ahead!

Cannon loved on his cousin Kayden's animals and keep them close by!

We ate ice cream for desert.....of course outside.....

....and what a sweet big brother Kayden was to share with his sister, Mackenzie!

Cousins played in the rain since hurricaines were in season!

Every morning we would wake up and meet back in the living room....

....no time for sleeping everyone, the fun needed to be resumed!

Our baby girl got to wear her summer fashion......

....even while showing off her new skill of rolling around!

Can you tell who was on cloud nine?  Yes, Grandma W....with her precious boys by her side!

Oh look....there's the smile we loved waking up to.....

.....and saying hello to your baby sister is the best way to start the morning!

Thanks Towey's for the cute bloomers!  Caroline showed them off all the time!

Heading to the pool is pretty cool......

....and eating your toes doesn't make for a good pose.....

....but Cannon in his red sunglasses is one cool dude!

We couldn't go far without our books!

Don't be jealous of our view.....

...or the big Captain Morgan statue!

We took Cannon and Caroline on their first visit to the zoo!

Fun was had by all......

.....and a good nap was long overdue!

Sunscreen on and ready to go!

Look out daddy, I'm coming in......

....please get him daddy...

...oh, please let me do it again!

Leaving our footprints in the sand we will never forget....

....or the smile on Caroline's face that seemed to never go away......

....and oh how throwing sand in the air was so much fun....

....just not in Grandma's face!

Swinging with daddy was good times!

And seeing this smile, makes this trip that much more worthwhile!

Thank you Grandma W for treating us to another wonderful family vacation.  Good times were had by all!
